Shockwave Therapy

Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is themost modern, safe and effective choice in the physiotherapy treatment of   musculoskeletal injuries especially those that do not respond to classical therapeutic Methods. Shockwave therapy provides improved blood supply in the pain area and is also, perhaps, the only method that by applying it as monotherapy (i.e. only with shock waves – ESWT) gives such results to musculoskeletal diseases .

Direct Results

Analgesia

Transverse shock waves stimulate the epidermal fibers of peripheral nerves, which activate pain avoidance mechanisms and stimulate endorphin release, which reduce local sensitivity to pain.

Long Term Results

Shock waves affect cell membrane function. As a result pain sensors no longer produce pain signals.

Chronic inflammation is converted to acute inflammation (detected and treated by the body).

Shock waves activate the body’s self-healing process by increasing the perfusion and  metabolism of the affected area, stimulating the regenerative capacity of its cells increase its resistance to mechanical load and reduce pain.

Advantages of treatment with SHOCKWAVE

Application without use of medicines (e.g. corticosteroid infusion) or local anesthetics.

Bloodless, non-invasive therapy (non-use of needles – surgical incisions) with a duration of actual treatment of approximately 10 minutes

It is common to feel  immediate relief and improve movement even after the first session.
